Hornets stretch conference winning streak to 39 games

The Henning Hornets have simply been dominant in the Park Region Conference over the past three years. The Hornets have won 39 consecutive Park Region Conference games, and are 48-2 in the conference since the start of the 2021-22 season.

Henning picked up two more dominant wins in the conference last week after defeating New York Mills by a score of 87-49 on Tuesday night, before edging Bertha-Hewitt by a score of 63-33 on Friday.
The Hornets are currently ranked fourth in the state and are 15-2 overall and 8-0 in the Park Region Conference,
This week Henning has just one game on tap as they will get a bit of a break from action. Their lone game is on Thursday night when the Hornets travel to Menahga to take on the Braves. Earlier this season the Hornets defeated Menahga by a score of 84-42.
Tuesday
Henning jumped out to an early lead and never looked back as they defeated the New York Mills Eagles by a score of 87-49 on Tuesday night.
The Hornets shot 52 percent from the field and knocked down 10 3-pointers as 11 Henning players reached the scoring column. Henning took a 41-23 lead at halftime and extended the lead in the second half, despite several regular players getting an extended break from action.

Head coach Randy Misegades said the bench played well in the second half to extend the lead in the second half.
“We handled our business tonight and got a lot of guys into the game and the scoring column,” said Misegades. “Our rotation guys extended the lead in the second half and our bench did a nice job finishing the game.”
Teigan Bjerke led the way offensively with a double-double by scoring 19 points and pulled down 11 rebounds. Logan Kostelecky also finished with a double-double by scoring 18 points and pulling down a team-high 13 rebounds. Noah Umland scored 14 points, while Eli Reinbold finished with eight points and five assists in the win.
Ryan Despard chipped in with seven points, Dawson Misegades scored six points, Dawson Bushman scored four points, Zack Wiederich scored three points, Devan Wiederich scored three points, Mason Samuelson scored three points and Beck Thorson rounded out the scoring with two points.

Friday
In front of a nearly standing room only crowd, the Henning Hornets pushed their record to 15-2 overall and their Park Region Conference winning streak to 39 consecutive games with a 63-33 win over Bertha-Hewitt on Friday night.
The Hornets once again relied on a tough defense that forced 17 Bear turnovers and surrendered just two field goals in the entire first half.
“We struggled to find any flow offensively and make shots consistently. But, the guys played a really solid defensive first half, holding Bertha-Hewitt to only two field goals in the half. We just need to do a better job of playing D without fouling,” said head coach Randy Misegades.
Henning took a 30-13 lead at halftime and stretched their lead to almost 40 points in the second half before the reserves came into the game.
Logan Kostelecky led the way offensively with a double-double by scoring 17 points to go along with 10 rebounds. Teigan Bjerke also recorded a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds, while Eli Reinbold scored 10 points and three assists in the win.
Also reaching the scoring column for the Hornets was Dawson Misegades and Todd Bjerke with six points apiece, Ryan Despard with four points, as well as Noah Umland, Mason Samuelson and Bradon Grabe who each finished with three points.
