The fifth grade girls basketball team has opened the season with a first and second place finish in their first tournaments of the season. The Hornets opened their season by winning the Wadena-Deer Creek Tournament with wins over Sebeka, Pillager and Aitkin on January 4. Last weekend the Hornets took second place in the New York Mills Tournament with wins over New York Mills and Bertha-Hewitt, before falling to Perham in the championship game. Team members include: Mila Umland, Koli Torgerson, Jayden Ross, Kyleigh Larson and Johanna Saari.
