Tayden Soma placed third and Peter Newark took fourth place at the annual Grant County Invite on Saturday. 

Soma took third place at 145 lbs. after he secured a first round win over Louie Tensen of Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa by a fall at 3:36. He fell to Gunner Hennessy of Border West by a tech fall in the quarterfinals, before working his way through the consolation bracket with a pair of tech falls and a pin to advance to the third place match. 

In his third place match, Soma was able to secure a tough 5-4 decision over Creed Koll of United North Central to come away with third place.

Newark took fourth place at 127 lbs. after he fell to Sam Roiko of United North Central in the quarterfinals by a first period fall. He went tn to secure a pin and won by a sudden death victory over Brock Grabow in the consolation semi-finals by a 3-0 decision to advance to the third place match. Unfortunately, he fell to Eli Greenman of Canby by a fall at the 1:33 mark of the match to finish in fourth place. 

Also placing for the Bulldogs was Will Schwartz who took sixth place at 189 lbs. Schwartz advanced to the semi-finals, before falling to Hunter Laage of Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa by a tech fall. He also fell to Bryan Rhode of Dawson-Boyd in the consolation semi-finals by a 12-2 major decision, before falling to Sawyer Verhelst of Canby by an 8-2 decision in the fifth place match to finish in sixth place. 

As a team the Bulldogs finished in 11th place overall with 40 points, but were just two team points behind Fergus Falls in the standings.
