Children’s Dance Adventure Class for children in grades K-5

Join this adventure for a fun filled hour of musical adventure through dance. Class participants will learn some basic skills of dance. Participants will cover basic terminology, learn some choreography and most importantly…have some fun. 

Classes will meet Mondays January 6, 13, 27, February 3 and 10 (no class January 20). Dancers will also have a short performance during half-time of the basketball games on February 13 and 18.  Classes are scheduled to meet from 5-6 p.m. at the Henning School Library.  Parents are welcome to observe the classes if they’d like. Class fee is $32. 

Pre-register and pay by Friday, Dec. 20.   

Instructor Bill Balfanz has extensive experience as a professional dancer, as well as a dance instructor. Balfanz taught parades and shows at Walt Disney World for many years and has performed in various shows around the world. 

Basic Musical Theater Jazz Dance Class (for adults)

In this class participants will cover basic dance terminology with a basic warm-up, movement across the room, and a short dance combination each week. Come have fun, learn the basics, and move in a judgment-free class.

Classes are scheduled for Mondays January 6, 13, 27, and February 3 and 10 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. (Please note:  there is no class on January 20). Class fee is $62. Registration deadline is Friday, December 20.  

Sourdough Bread – A Beginner’s Introduction

This class will focus on the basics of sourdough. Class participants will receive an established starter in a mason jar, a how to guide for maintaining the starter, as well as tips, tricks and techniques for your first loaf. The health benefits of sourdough will also be discussed. Instructor Megan Hansen recently launched her own venture, Simply Delicious, where a variety of baked goods including sourdough, cookies, rolls and much more are offered. 

Class fee is $40/person or $70 per household (includes one starter). Class is scheduled for Monday, Jan. 13 at 6 p.m. at the Henning Community Center. Registration deadline is January 6.  

Cyber Security Class

This internet safety class for home users emphasizes protecting personal information, securing devices, and maintaining online privacy. Participants are going to discuss creating strong, unique passwords, recognizing phishing attempts, and avoiding unsafe websites or downloads. The instructor give tips on the importance of keeping software updated, enabling firewalls and antivirus protection, and securing home Wi-Fi networks. The class also covers safe online shopping habits, identifying scams, and understanding the risks of sharing sensitive data. 

Overall, the class aims to empower users with practical tools to navigate the internet safely and confidently. Class is scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 23 from 6-8 p.m. Class fee is $10. Registration deadline is January 16.
