What do three lady explorers, egg beaters, umbrellas, a troll and a rock and roll singer have in common? They are all part of a unique and hilarious play being presented by the Andria Theatre in Alexandria with a Grant from the Lake Region Arts Council at the Trinity Center in Henning on Wednesday, Nov. 6 at 7 p.m.

“On The Verge” by Eric Overmeyer is a funny, mystical, magical adventure by three intrepid lady travelers from the year 1888 into ‘Terra Incognita’ (unknown territory) where they meet everyone from a cannibal to a troll, to a fortune teller (all played by the same actor.) As they travel through parts unknown and the audience’s imagination they discover that they are also moving through time to the year 1955.

During their journey they not only cover terrain from the jungles of South America to the top of the Himalayas to an Esso gas station, but they discover courage in themselves to launch into an unknown future. The play is a family friendly romp through the mind’s eye that incorporates vocabulary, geography, history, poetry, participation and theatre. All of that and laughs too! Admission is $15 for adults and free for students 18 and under.
