Henning native to serve patients with Lakewood Health Systems

Lakewood Health System welcomes Marissa Baumgartner, physician assistant (PA), as its first care management provider.

Originally from Henning, Baumgartner completed her undergraduate degree at North Dakota State University, and received her Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies at Bethel University. She is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and the Minnesota Academy of Physician Assistants.

As Lakewood’s first care management provider, Baumgartner will focus on supporting hospital patients after discharge, providing after visit care for patients in the clinic, and collaborating with the care management team on population health services. After most recently working in an emergency department setting, Baumgartner is excited for the opportunity to get to know her patients better and caring for “the whole patient.”

“I was lucky enough to be a PA student at Lakewood and loved their patient care and the family-like team. I am very excited to be part of the Lakewood family and be able to help provide care near home,” she said.

Baumgartner and her husband, CJ, recently welcomed their first child. Having both grown up in the area, they consider themselves lucky to raise their son here, as well. In her free time, Baumgartner enjoys spending time with family, and going to the lake during the summer. As a family, they also enjoy watching and cheering on Minnesota teams, and of course, the NDSU Bison.
