Two people were injured in a traffic accident near the town of Ottertail early in the afternoon on Sept. 22. The accident took place near the intersection of Highway 108 and 480th Avenue, east of Otter Tail and northwest of Henning.
This was a single-vehicle rollover, according to sheriff deputies. The two occupants were transported from the scene of the accident, one by life flight to an area hospital.
Injured were Carol Joann Spencer, 83, Wadena, and Marlyn Eugene Menze, 87, Ottertail. Assisting sheriff deputies were the State Highway Patrol, Ottertail Fire, Henning police, Life Link Care of Henning and Astera Ambulance.
Golf cart injury in rural Dent
Sheriff deputies, on Sept. 22, reported that a 16-year-old girl was injured in rural Dent when she fell from a golf cart northwest of town, at Fawn Oaks Road near McDonald Lake. The accident took place at 6:10 p.m.
First responders, when arriving at the scene of the accident, found that the girl had suffered significant injuries. The sheriff office was assisted by Perham EMS, Dent Fire and Rescue and Lifelink.
Man dies in county UTV accident
Sheriff deputies, on Sept. 29, reported the death of a 21-year-old man from the Netherlands in a Utility Task Vehicle (UTV) accident southwest of Urbank near Lake George in southeastern Otter Tail County.
The victim, Jim Jan, was a passenger who was ejected during a rollover. Jan was pronounced deceased at the scene of the accident.
The 43-year-old operator of the UTV, Jan Nijland from Brandon, was seriously injured and was life flighted to an area hospital. Otter Tail County sheriff deputies were assisted at the scene of the accident with deputies from nearby Douglas County.
Also assisting were first responders from Parkers Prairie, Millerville, DNR and Alomere Ambulance. The rollover took place at 9:17 a.m. in Leaf Mountain Township.
