0The Henning Hornets improved their Park Region Conference record to 3-2 and their overall record to 8-11 with a win over the Menahga Braves on Thursday. The Hornets finally had a few days off after going non stop for the past seven weeks. This allowed for them to overcome some sickness and work on some much needed skills and rotational work.
Henning started the game a little slow, but once they made it through the first rotation, the Hornets gained control of the offense and things went their way. Set scores were 25-15, 25-9 and 26-24.
As a team the Hornets hitting percentage was the highest it has been all season .209 with 39 kills. Serving percentage was 97 percent with 14 aces and their serve receive was 88 percent to the target.
Cambrie Johnson did a good job setting her first game in a 5-1 rotation. She moved the ball around to all the hitters, which was difficult for the Braves to stop.
Myiesha Antoni, Addison Bode and Alivia Emter each had 9 kills and Emmalynn Bergstrom had 8. Johnson led the team with 33 set assists and 5 service aces.
Emter served 17/17 with 4 aces and Addison Bode was 14/14 with 2 aces. Lillian Moench led the team with 13 digs and Anotoni led the team in blocks with 3.
The Hornets have two home games this week. On Tuesday they host Underwood and on Thursday they host Wadena-Deer Creek in Park Region Conference action.
