Man arrested for assault near Fergus Falls

One person was injured in a traffic accident, south of Perham, at 6:49 a.m. July 25 near the intersection of Highways 78 and 108.

Sheriff deputies, working in conjunction with the Minnesota State Highway Patrol, said a Subaru Outback was southbound on Highway 78 and a Chevrolet Malibu was northbound on Highway 78 when they collided.

Receiving non-life-threatening injuries was a Deer Creek man, 42-year-old Clint Andrew Kysar. He was taken to the hospital in Perham. Responding to the scene of the accident were Ottertail Rescue and Henning Ambulance.

Sheriff deputies, on July 24, arrested a man in Orwell Township, southwest of Fergus Falls, in a shooting incident. It was determined that there was a verbal disturbance at 1:49 p.m. involving a delivery truck operator and a male.

The male discharged the firearm, according to sheriff deputies, but there was no report of the delivery truck operator being injured. The male was, however, arrested and charged with second degree assault. He was taken to the county jail in Fergus Falls.

The arrested individual was expected to appear in county court, Fergus Falls. The suspect was identified as 55-year-old Jeffrey Defries.
