The Henning North Stars wrapped up their inaugural regular season last weekend with three tough losses to Dent, Vergas and Nimrod.

On Wednesday the North Stars lost to Dent by a score of 3-2 on the road, before losing both parts of a split doubleheader against Vergas by a score of 5-2 and Nimrod by a score of 7-3 on Saturday.

The North Stars will now gear up for the Region 14C playoffs which kick off this weekend. The playoff schedule was not available at the time of press. 

Wednesday

A Nick Lindberg RBI single and a passed ball gave Henning an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning on Wednesday night. 

The game remained 2-0 until Dent cracked the scoreboard in the bottom of the eighth inning on a sacrifice fly to center field to make the score 2-1 in favor of the North Stars. Dent ended the game in walk-off fashion in the bottom of the ninth inning when they scored a pair of runs, including the game winning run on an error to make the score 3-2 in favor of Dent. 

Jayden Harig and Owen Lindberg led the way offensively with a pair of hits, while Nick Lindberg took the loss on the mound, despite going eight innings and giving up just one hit. He struck out 15 hitters and gave up three unearned runs.

Saturday

Henning lost a pair of games to close out its regular season on Saturday to both Vergas and Dent.

In the opening game of the night, Henning fell to Vergas by a score of 5-2 in what proved to be a wild finish to the game. 

Trailing 2-0, Dan Marso scored when Owen Harig reached on an error by the third baseman from Vergas. 

The Loons added three more runs in the top of the ninth inning, before Jesse LaManna hit an RBI single with two outs to bring the tying run up to the plate. Unfortunately, the hitter popped out to second base to end the game by a score of 5-2. 

Marso led the way offensively with three hits, while Garrett Kuhn-Rice took the loss on the mound as he gave up three unearned runs in the final two innings of action. 

In the nightcap, Henning fell to a tough Nimrod team by a score of 7-3. 

The North Stars tied the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the third inning when Nick Lindberg hit a sacrifice fly to right field and Dan Marso hit an RBI single. 

Nimrod took a commanding lead in the top of the sixth inning when they scored five runs to take a 7-2 lead. 

The North Stars added a run late, but it wasn’t enough, as they fell by a score of 7-3.

The North Stars were led offensively by Jayden Harig who went 3-4 front he plate, while Stephen Lindberg, Owen Harig and Justin Love finished with a pair of hits apiece. 

Stephen Lindberg took the loss on the mound as he went 5 1/3 innings and gave up 11 hits and seven earned runs.
