Event to include tractor pull, demo derby

The East Otter Tail County Fair will kick off on Thursday, July 25 and running through Sunday, July 28. The annual event is in its 114th year as it celebrates everything from local agriculture, artistic talent, and fun for everyone.

The fair will begin on Thursday, July 24 as Veteran’s Citizen Day at the fair kicking off with an 8 a.m. rooster crowing contest and the 4-H Poultry Show. Highlights of the day include the flag raising and national anthem at 11 a.m., the Farm Bureau farm animal scavenger hunt at 11 a.m., the Honor Quilt presentation at 11:15 a.m. along with military displays, the 4-H and FFA Beef Show at 1:30 p.m., the 4-H and FFA Goat Show at 3 p.m., the 4-H and FFA Sheep Show at 7 p.m., Century Farm Awards at 7:30 p.m., along with the opening of the carnival rides at 5 p.m. and wristband ride night at 6 p.m.

Friday, July 26 will be Senior Citizen Day at the fair will kick off with the 4-H Rabbit show and the rooster crowing contest at 8 a.m. Highlights include the 4-H and FFA Dairy Show at 10:30 a.m., senior citizen events at 12 p.m., the 4-H and FFA Swine Show at 5 p.m., and the NTPA Tractor Pull at 6 p.m.

Saturday, July 27 is Kid’s Day at the fair and will start at 9 a.m. with the Dairy Recognition ceremony. The day will be highlighted by many events including the 4-H Blue Ribbon Market Livestock Auction at 10 a.m., the Pleasure Horse Show at 10 a.m., the Kid’s Day Lego Building Contest at 10 a.m. along with judging at 10:30 a.m., Forge Demonstration Art with Jerry Hobbs from 12 to 7 p.m., the Lakes Area Precious Plastic Lab activity at 1 p.m., 4-H Small and Large Animal Round Robin at 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. respectively, followed by 4-H Olympics at 4 p.m. The Demo Derby will be held at 6 p.m.

Sunday, July 28 is Family Day at the fair and starts with a pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. with free will offering. Horse Training with Horse Games will take place at 9 a.m., a Church Service with Worship Barn will take place at the Park Shelter at 10 a.m., a Kid’s Tractor Pull at 12 p.m., the Little Britches Dairy Show at 1 p.m., Tractor Pull at 12 p.m., the 4-H Livestock Awards Program at 4 p.m. and the Fair will close for the year at 6 p.m.

The weekend will be filled with entertainment including musicians The Silver Foxes, Brad Boice, Smokin’ Joe & The Tailpipes, Jerry Siegel, Eric’s Dance Band, Larry Loftus & The Wild Horses, Katie Baker, Church of Cash, Blue English Band, and Rick Adams.

The Farm Bureau Farm Animal Scavenger Hunt will be held each day from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., the Children’s Barn is open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. each day, along with the Main Exhibit Buildings with vendors and open class exhibits from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. The Beer Garden is open daily as well as Bingo each evening at 7 p.m.

The East Otter Tail County Fairgrounds are located in the heart of Perham.
