The Henning North Stars snapped an 11 game losing streak with a 5-3 win over the Dent Wildcats on Wednesday night. The game came after the North Stars opened their season with back-to-back wins, but then dropped 11 straight, including several by just a handful of runs. On Sunday, Henning fell to the New York Mills Millers by a score of 5-1. 

The North Stars are currently 3-12 on the season and will host the Hawley Hawks on Wednesday night at 7 p.m., before traveling to Perham on Friday night. The North Stars will return home on Saturday night to host the Deer Creek Shockers in a Hi-10 and Region 14C matchup. The first pitch on Saturday will be at 7:30 p.m.

  Nick Lindberg broke a 3-3 tie in the bottom of the eighth inning on a passed ball and Garrett Kuhn-Rice hit a sacrifice fly to right field to bring Justin Love across the plate to put the Henning North Stars in front by a score of 5-3 on Wednesday night. 

Nick Lindberg struck out the Dent Wildcats in order in the top of the ninth inning to secure a 5-3 win. Lindberg struck out six of the final seven hitters he faced and retired all seven hitters in order to give the North Stars a home win advance of the Fourth of July. 

In addition to the eighth inning, Owen Harig connected with an RBI single in the second inning, before Joey Lindberg scored on a passed ball in the bottom of the fourth inning to break a 1-1 tie. 

Harig made the score 3-2 in favor of Henning in the bottom of the fifth inning when he scored on a passed ball, before Dent tied the game at 3-3 on a passed ball of their own.

NY Mills scored single runs in the second, third, fifth and a pair of runs in the seventh inning to come away with a 5-1 win over Henning on Sunday afternoon. Despite being outhit by a 13-6 margin, the North Stars remained within striking distance throughout the contest as they had at least one runner on base in all-but three innings throughout the afternoon. 

The lone run for the North Stars came in the bottom of the eighth inning when Garrett Kuhn-Rice hit a fielder’s choice to the Millers third baseman that brought Owen Harig across the plate. 

Harig led the way offensively with a pair of hits.

Kuhn-Rice took the loss on the mound as he went six innings and gave up eight hits and three earned runs. Nick Lindberg pitched the final three innings and gave up five hits and one earned run in the loss.
