0Logan Kostelecky competed in the Class A state golf tournament on Tuesday and Wednesday at Pebble Creek Golf Course in Becker. While the results weren’t what Kostelecky wanted, head coach Mike Hepola said he should be proud of his season and how he represented the program and school at the state tournament.
Day 1 he got off to a great start, getting a par on Hole 1 and following that up with a nice birdie on a tough Par 5 Hole 2, but then he unfortunately got into a little trouble on Hole 3 and took a double-bogey and that led to a tough front nine finish as he shot 46 on that first nine. The second nine he battled back a bit and shot a solid 40 to finish the day with an 86.
Day 2 started off great again with a birdie on Hole 1, he bogeyed Hole 2, but he got par on the next four holes, before finishing the front nine with three straight bogeys to shoot a front nine 40. The back nine unfortunately included a few penalty shots and he finished with a 45 to shoot an 85 and finished with a two-day total of 171 to finish in 55th place out of 88 golfers.
The individual Class A champion was Parker Brock a Jr. from Walker-Hackensack-Akeley who shot a two-day total of 140 (4 under par) and the team champion was Fertile-Beltrami who shot a two-day total of 627 beating Walker-Hackensack-Akeley by 8 strokes.
“Very proud of Logan and the great season he had and looking forward to having him and all but one of our golfers from this past season back next year and hopefully can finish even stronger,” said Hepola.
