State trap shoot set for June 12 at Alexandria Shooting Park

The Henning trap team is gearing up for the annual state shoot in Alexandria, Minn. next week.

The Henning Hornet Trap Team demonstrated their prowess and precision, securing a commendable third place finish in the fiercely contested Conference 2-3A. The team showcased exceptional individual performances, with several members standing out in their respective categories.

Leading the charge for the Hornets was William Schwartz, who delivered an outstanding performance. Schwartz clinched second place among the male competitors, boasting an impressive average score of 23.1. His consistent accuracy and focus were key to the team’s overall success.

The female competitors from Henning were equally formidable. Ella Horn and Haley Hanson formed a dynamic duo, dominating the female division. Horn took 1st place with an average score of 18.7, while Hanson closely followed, securing 2nd place with an average score of 18.0. Their synchronized performance and steady aim were crucial in propelling the team to their podium finish.

In addition to these top scorers, Mason Samuelson made a significant contribution by placing 20th in the conference with an average score of 20.7. His efforts provided essential support to the team’s overall standing.

Luke Schmidt and Mason Umland also made notable contributions, both tying for 22nd place with identical average scores of 20.6. Their determination and consistency added depth to the team’s competitive edge.

Other notable shooters for the Hornets include: Boe Mesker (20.3), Caleb Watercott (20.1), and Devan Wiederich (19.5), Jacob Menze (18.3), Houston Schwartz (17.7), Brody Lohse (17.5), Dawson Bushman (17.4).

Coach Dakota Aeling expressed pride in the team’s achievements. 

“Our athletes have worked incredibly hard this season, and their dedication has paid off. Each member has shown remarkable improvement and resilience. Placing 3rd in such a tough conference is a testament to their commitment and skill,” said Aeling. 

The Henning Hornet Trap Team’s success in the Conference 2-3A is a proud moment for the school and the community. Their collective effort and individual excellence have set a high standard for future competitions, and the team looks forward to building on this momentum in the Trap Championship held at Alexandria Shooting Park June 12.
