The Henning North Stars improved to 2-0 on the season with a 12-4 win over the Staples Lumberjacks on Saturday.

The North Stars opened the scoring when a pair of runs scored on an error in the top of the first inning. Staples actually took a brief 3-2 lead in the bottom of the third inning when they connected with a two-run single and one run single. However, Henning went on a one out rally in the top of the fourth inning when Jesse LaManna hit an RBI single, before Nick Trosdahl and Nick Lindberg hit back-to-back RBI singles to make the score 5-3. 

Henning made the score 7-3 when Oscar Lindberg hit a two-run double in the top of the fifth inning.

The North Stars scored three more runs in the eighth inning and ended the scoring in the top of the ninth inning when Nick Lindberg hit a two-run home run to make the score 12-4.

In their other game the North Stars defeated the Vergas Loons by a score of 18-0. 

This week the North Stars will travel to Deer Creek on Friday night, before hosting Clarissa on Sunday in their home opener. Friday’s game will begin at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday’s game will get underway at 3 p.m.
