Two Henning causes receive funding

A total of 29,150 was awarded to 15 local organizations by Lake Region Electric Cooperative’s (LREC) Operation Round Up (ORU) program. ORU Board Trustees allocated funding during their quarterly meeting on April 8. Organizations receiving funds were:

• $1,000 to the City of Henning Park & Rec Department

• $2,500 to BIO Girls

• $800 to Someplace Safe in Pelican Rapids

• $1,500 to the Minnesota Deer Hunters Association in Fergus Falls

• $500 to Our Saviors Ten Mile Lake Church Quilters

• $500 to the Fergus Falls Police Department

• $2,500 to Faith Haven Camp, Inc.

• $3,000 to the Minnesota Firefighter Initiative

• $600 for the Brandon-Evansville Dollars for Scholars

• $2,000 to the Henning Skatepark Fund

• $750 to True Friends

• $1,500 to the Friends of Maplewood State Park

• $2,000 to the Freedom Rock in Vergas

• $7,000 to the Jamestown EMS Education (Ringdahl Ambulance)

• $3,000 to the North Country Food Bank, Inc.

Since 2007, ORU has awarded $712,700 in donations to organizations across Lake Region’s service territory. Funding for ORU is made possible by LREC’s dedicated membership who round up the change on their electric bills. 

Have a community project needing funding? Please complete the online Operation Round Up Request for Funding form found at www.lrec.coop/ORU and submit it with supporting documentation for consideration. Applications for the next round of funding will be accepted until June 15, 2024. 

As an LREC member, individuals can participate in ORU by donating the extra change on their electric bill when rounding up to the next dollar ($0.01-$0.99 each month). Members can also elect to donate a fixed amount each month. To sign up, members can visit the LREC website, log into SmartHub, email billing@lrec.coop or call (800) 552-7658.
