A pair of water issues resulted in a not-so-fun start to the school week last week.

On Monday, Feb. 26, a water heater at the school was discovered to be malfunctioning, which resulted in water running out of the school, as well as inside the building from the water heater. Henning School Building and Grounds Supervisor Brendan Hart was able to locate the shut off valves and a new water heater was installed just one day later.

“We were able to find all of the shut offs and we got a hold of Brogards right away. We had a new water heater by Tuesday night,” said Henning School Superintendent Melissa Sparks. “I was grateful for Brogards for their speed and action.”

Just one day after the leak in the water heater, a leaky pipe was discovered near the art room.

Sparks said a pipe in the ceiling of the art storage room was severely corroded and was leaking water in the room and display cases near the art room on Tuesday Fortunately all of the art on display, with the exception of two pieces, was able to be saved.

In order to make the necessary repairs, employees at Brogards Plumbing, Heating and Excavating had to temporarily shut off the water at the school for just over 40 minutes.

Sparks credited the staff at Brogards for making the quick repairs as both the hot and cold water are fully functional once again. She said the water is safe to drink and there are no concerns about the water quality.
