From humble beginnings 110 years ago to state tournaments, state championships and capturing the hearts of basketball fans from across the state just five years ago; current and past members of the Henning basketball program will take some time on Friday night to reflect on the rich history of basketball in the tiny community.

On Friday night the Henning boys basketball program will recognize past players, parents, fans, coaches, managers and cheerleaders who have all had a hand in continuing a long legacy of success at the small school located in central Minnesota.

The year 2024 also marks the fifth anniversary of Henning capturing a state championship and the hearts of basketball fans from across the state as it secured a state championship in dominant fashion. The team dedicated its season to Jacob Quam who passed away in 2017 from injuries he suffered in a car accident, but would have been a member of the state championship team.

Prior to the start of the varsity game on Friday night against Battle Lake, current coaches and team members will celebrate the basketball alumni and their contributions to the continued success in Henning. Following Friday night’s game, a social that will be open to the public will be held at Oakwood Supper Club where people can gather and share stories about the long history of success of high school basketball in Henning.
