Scwartz, Dittberner finish in third place at tournament

Kale Rich took second place at heavyweight and 11 wrestlers placed at their weight class at the Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale/Parkers Prairie tournament on Saturday.

Rich advanced to the finals following a pair of pins over Cohen Ellis of Crosby-Ironton and Toby Bryan of Roseau in a combined 1:21, before falling to Braden Shamp of BHVPP in the championship by a pin at the 4:38 mark of their match. 

Other highlights include a third place finish by Will Schwartz at 189 lbs. Schwartz won his opening two matches of the day by a 7-5 decision and a pin, before dropping his final two matches of the day by pin to finish in third place. 

Cayden Dittberner finished in third place at 133 lbs. after the senior went 3-2 in a round robin tournament. Dittberner won his first, third and fifth match of the day by a pin, before being pinned himself in the second and fourth rounds. His final match of the day was a pin over Doby Schmitt of Crosby-Ironton in just 1:11 to secure a third place finish. 

As a team the Bulldogs took fifth place overall with 75 points. Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale/Parkers Prairie took first place with 191 points.
