Lake Region Healthcare (LRH) has announced six recent additions to the provider team, including a pediatric NP, a pediatrician with a focus on children’s mental health, an ENT Otolaryngologist/Head and Neck Surgeon, and three primary care providers.

Dr. Pratip Nag, Pedatrician previously served LRH on a temporary basis and the mutually great fit resulted in a permanent partnership. Dr. Nag will offer a regular schedule of appointments for children in the Fergus Falls Main Clinic, virtual appointments, and serve a rotation as an on-call pediatrician for the Women’s and Children’s Health Center. For the past 10 years, he has served as a general pediatrician and the Vice President, Chief Medical Officer, and Chief Medical Information Officer for the Katherine Shaw Bethea Hospital in Dixon, Ill. He has a special interest in pediatric mental health. 

Lisa Moorhouse, Pediatric NP, Pediatric Hospitalist and Lactation Consultant. Lisa earned her Master of Science in Nursing and her Pediatric Nurse Practitioner certification from St. Catherine University in St. Paul, Minn. She also holds her Masters in Health Administration from Argosy University. Most recently, Moorhouse has served children at CHI St. Gabriel’s in Little Falls, Minn., and prior to that at Essentia Health in Baxter, Minn., and Park Nicollet in St. Louis Park, Minn.

Dr. Kaveh Karimnejad, ENT, Otolaryngolgist, Head and Neck Surgeon.  Dr. Karimnejad earned his Medical Doctorate at the Saint Louis University School of Medicine. He subsequently completed five years of specialty training in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck surgery at his alma mater, Saint Louis University. To further develop his skills as a specialist, Dr. Karimnejad went on to complete a fellowship in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Louisiana State University where he later went on to serve as a Clinical Instructor. He spent the early part of his career at the Mayo Clinic in Mankato, Minn. where he established a new facial plastic and reconstructive surgery practice.Most recently he has been working as an Otolaryngologist at the Olmsted Medical Center in Rochester, Minn.

Jonah Bergstrand, PA-C will serve as a physician extender in support of Drs. Vukonich, Lacey and Lokken in the Fergus Falls Clinic’s Family Medicine department. This means patients will not directly book appointments to establish care with Bergstrand, but that he will be a key member of the care team for all patients established with Drs. Vukonich, Lacey and Lokken. Bergstrand is a Fergus Falls native, graduating from Fergus Falls High School and later from North Dakota State University with his undergraduate degree in Exercise Science. He completed his Physician Assistant training at Bethel University in St. Paul, Minn.

Steve Leard, PA-C received his Master of Physician Assistant Studies from the University of North Dakota School of Medicine in Grand Forks, N.D. He holds undergraduate degrees in Botany from North Dakota State University and in Paramedic Technology from Bismarck State College. Most recently Leard worked as a PA in the Emergency Room of CentraCare’s Sauk Centre, Minn. location. He has also served as a Paramedic at Cuyuna Regional Medical Facility in Crosby, Minn., and for the Ambulance Service in Bemidji and Detroit Lakes, Minn., and in Jamestown and Fort Yates, N.D. He is a member of the Minnesota Army National Guard and has previously been a lead paramedic instructor at Camp Ripley.

Sara Martin, FNP will serve in the Fergus Falls Clinic Orthopedic Department for a temporary placement this winter followed by a permanent placement in the Morris Clinic Primary Care department later in 2024. Martin is no stranger to LRH having served as the Operating Room/Outpatient Manager at the Elbow Lake and Morris locations since 2008. Martin will start in the orthopedics department at the Fergus Falls Main Clinic to cover for PA Kory Nordick’s military leave through August of 2024. From there she will move to the Morris Clinic primary care team, offering family health care for all ages.
