Henning to host NYM on Friday night

Lyvia Misegades finished with 29 points and 12 rebounds in Henning’s 51-43 loss to Brandon-Evansville on December 19.

December 19 vs. Brandon-Evansville  51-43 lost

On Tuesday, Dec. 19, the Henning Hornets hosted Section 6A opponent Brandon-Evansville who came into the game with a 6-1 record. Henning got off to a good start, but went cold offensively to end that half trailing by a score of 31-22.

The girls fought back in the second half to pull within 1 point 41-40, before going cold again and then had to foul them a few times to try and get a chance for the win. The Hornets ended up ultimately losing by the final score of 51-43.

Individually the Hornets were led by Lyvia Misegades as she finished with another double-double with a game-high 29 points (including 15/17 on free throw’s) along with 12 rebounds.  

Alivia Gunderson had 9 points, while Lila Thorson 3 points and Callie Thompson 2 points rounded out the scoring.  Gunderson led the team with 4 steals while Misegades led the team with 4 assists.

The loss drops Henning’s overall record to 4-4 on the season.

December 21 at Lake Park-Audubon 59-43 win

On December 21 the Hornets traveled to Lake Park to take on another Section 6A opponent in the Lake-Park-Audobon Raiders and came away with a 59-43 victory.  There were definitely a bunch of ups and downs in this game, but head coach Mike Hepola said he was really proud of the girls sticking with each other and ultimately pulling out the win.

Individually the Hornets were led offensively by two seniors in double figures, Lyvia Misegades with 23 points and Alivia Gunderson with 16 points. Fellow senior Ella Missling, who was playing her first full game of the season coming off of injury, just missed double figures. Missling finished with 9 points and having her back will certainly be important for the Hornets going forward.  

Lila Thorson had 8 points and Monica Hansen 3 points.  

Misegades had another double-double adding a game high 15 rebounds to her points. Gunderson led the team with 3 assists and she and Misegades had team high 3 steals.

The win brings Hennings season record to 5-4 and sends the girls into a nice break with a solid win that they hope to build off of.
