McKenna Lilja has always had a strong passion for creating a masterpiece in the art room. With the hopes of molding a group of artists for a new generation, Lilja recently began as Henning School’s new art teacher. She fills a void left by former art teacher Melissa Babolian who resigned shortly before school started this fall.  ¶  The BOLD High School and North Dakota State University alum said she likes art and is looking forward to the opportunity to share her passion for the different art mediums with students at Henning School.

“I have enjoyed all art mediums and I have always found myself working with students,” she said.

After spending the past year teaching in Fargo, Lilja said she and her fiance were looking for opportunities to live in the middle of lakes country. When she saw the art position was available for the Henning School District she jumped at the opportunity to be closer to some of their families land in the area.

While she just recently began her position at Henning School, Lilja said the students and staff have been wonderful and she had high remarks to make about the school district as a whole.

“The students are amazing. It is an awesome school to be part of,” Lilja.
