The Otter Tail Central wrestlers wrapped up a busy week of action at the Grant County Invite at West Central Area on Saturday.

Mason Christianson finished in fifth place at 145 lbs., while Will Schwartz took sixth place at 189 lbs. 

The tournament came on the heels of a triangular against Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale/Parkers Prairie and United North Central on Tuesday, as well as a dual against Wadena-Deer Creek on Thursday. 

On Friday the Bulldogs will travel to Pequot Lakes for a two-day tournament, before hosting Border West on Thursday, Dec. 21 in Henning.

Tuesday

The OTC wrestlers dropped a pair of matches at a triangular against Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale/Parkers Prairie on Tuesday night. The Bulldogs fell to host BHVPP by a score of 46-21, as well as United North Central by a score of 60-12. 

In their match against UNC, Mason Christianson secured a 12-11 decision over Zach Hendrickson at 145 lbs. to put the Bulldogs on the scoreboard. Levi Evavold made the score 42-9 in favor of UNC when he secured a pin over Gene Morter of UNC at 160 lbs., and Kale Rich won a tight 4-3 decision over Ryan Peterson of UNC to end the match by a score of 60-12 in favor of the Warriors.

Thursday

Julien Umlauf and Mason Christianson both secured a pin, but it wasn’t enough as the OTC wrestlers fell to Wadena-Deer Creek by a score of 66-12 on Thursday night. 

Umlauf was able to secure a pin over Dylan Geihsler at the 2:50 mark of their 121 lbs. match up, while Christianson secured a pin over Gideon Pinnella at the 5:04 mark of their 145 lbs. match.

The dual featured 11 combined pins, as well as an injury default and forfeit.

Mason Christianson took fifth place and William Schwartz captured sixth place at the annual Grant County Invite on Saturday. 

After dropping his opening two matches of the day, Christianson picked up a 13-4 major decision over Andrew Spanier of Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa in the fifth place match to end his day on a high note. He is currently 7-5 on the season.

At 189 lbs., Schwartz dropped his fifth place match against Gavin Flint by a fall in 35 seconds. Schwartz captured sixth place in the tournament and is currently 1-9 on the season.
