Henning High School will be hosting a homecoming week for the ages next week as several new events will provide plenty of activities for students and the community alike.

Homecoming week will be held from October 2-6 and will culminate with the homecoming football game against Ashby/Brandon-Evansville on Friday night in Battle lake.

On Monday night homecoming week will get underway with the lip sync contest during eighth period, before coronation will be held at 7 p.m. This is a change from years past as community members are invited to attend coronation at the school gym, before a bon fire will be held at the demo derby put following coronation.

Homecoming candidates include: queen: Alivia Gunderson, Lyvia Misegades, Ella Missling and Alissa Winters. King candidates include: Lane Dilly, Cayden Dittberner, Carter Kenyon and Chase Powers.

On Tuesday the students will host a kickball tournament on both the football field and the hollow. The kickball tournament will continue on Thursday afternoon as well.

On Wednesday, the powder puff football game will be held at the football field during the afternoon.

Homecoming week will come to a close on Friday with a day full of activities. The championship game of the kickball tournament will take place at 9:40 a.m. on the football field, before a pepfest is held from 10:15-11 a.m.

Following lunch students will decorate their homecoming parade floats, which will start at 2 p.m. at the school. The parade will roll through downtown Henning and conclude near the school by 2:30 p.m.

The week will come to a close with a football game on Friday, Oct. 6 in Battle lake against ABE. First National Bank will host a grill out before the game with the proceeds benefiting the OTC athletic programs.
