The Henning Hornet volleyball team has been busy the past few weeks.

The team started preseason on August 14, and after two weeks of practice they started their regular season matches.  As of this week the Hornets are 2-2 overall. They fell to a very strong Underwood Rockets team by a score of 2-3, then they picked up two wins against the Breckenridge Cowgirls (3-1) and the Brandon-Evansville Chargers (3-0), and on Thursday fell to a very strong Verndale Pirates team (0-3).

The Hornets have been working hard, but they are still trying to find a lineup that will make their team the strongest. The Hornets are young and unexperienced at the varsity level, so it is going to take some time to find the right combo.

The Hornets are led by seniors Lyvi Misegades, Alivia Gunderson, Ella Missling and Alissa Winters.  Also on the varsity at this time are junior Lila Thorson, sophomores Myiesha Antoni, Lillian Moench, Cambrie Johnson, Emmalyn Bergstrom, Isabelle Godding and eighth graders Alivia Emter and Brynn Reinbold.

Leading the team after four matches is Lyvia Misegades with 78 kills, 22 blocks and 45 set assists, Lillian Moench is leading in digs with 56 and service aces with 10. Ella Missling has been leading the serve receive and also has 9 ace serves.  Alivia Gunderson has 21 kills and 10 blocks, Myiesha Antoni has 18 blocks and 12 kills.

The Hornets are off until Thursday, when they host the Bertha-Hewitt Bears and then head to Benson for their first of three tournaments.
