With temperatures in the low 90 degrees, warm weather and clear skies welcomed guests to the annual Watermelon Day celebration on Saturday in Vining. The weekend included the annual 5k/10k run (right and below), live music (middle right), a pie eating contest featuring a number of local residents like Vining Fire Chief Adam Schwartz, Henning School Activities Director Randy Misegades and Henning School Board member Andy Eckhoff, as well as glitter tattoos and a large craft fair (below right). The day also included a 3 on 3 tournament. During the tournament, Calvin Stueve took a shot over the outreached arms of Carter Kenyon (above).

The annual Watermelon Day celebration was held on Saturday in Vining. The day came to an end with a large parade through downtown Vining on Saturday night. Among the parade entrants were Gemma Greenwaldt, who threw out candy for her mom’s photography business Joyous Creations (above),  First National Bank (left) and grand marshal’s Paul and Diane Halvorson (above).
