Henning to host Midwest Plains Regional Tournament July 27-31

Otter Tail Central 15U Black nabbed the lead late in the game in a 6-1 victory over Frazee on Monday. The game was tied at 1-1 with OTC 15U Black batting in the top of the sixth inning when Max Mekalson drew a walk, scoring 1 run.

OTC 15U Black fired up the offense in the first inning, when Ayden Olson singled on a 2-2 count, scoring 1 run.

In the bottom of the first inning, Frazee tied things up at 1-1.

OTC 15U Black put up three runs in the seventh inning. Kaleb Hammes and Kale Misegades each drove in runs during the inning.

Misegades led the OTC 15U Black to victory on the mound as he went 7 innings, allowing 1 run on 2 hits, striking out 11 and walking 1.

Olson led OTC 15U Black with 2 hits in 3 at bats. Misegades led OTC 15U Black with 2 stolen bases.

In the second game of the night, OTC 15U Black blew out Frazee 8-1.

OTC 15U Black scored 4 runs in the third inning. The offensive onslaught by OTC 15U Black was led by Kale Misegades, Kaleb Hammes, and Dawson Bushman, who each had RBIs in the inning.

Bushman was credited with the victory for OTC 15U Black as he surrendered 1 run on 1 hit over 3 innings, striking out 2.

Ayden Olson and Misegades each collected one hit to lead OTC 15U Black. Misegades led OTC 15U Black with two stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with seven stolen bases.

“It was a great day for a doubleheader sweep today,” said coach Evan Meece. “Kale commanded the strike zone so well and was dominant.  Our defense was solid behind him as well.  I was happy with the way we responded to last week and started to build momentum into the state and regional tournament.”

Thursday

OTC 15U Black fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 19-10 loss to PRBA Blue on Thursday. PRBA Blue scored on a double by Landon S, a single by Owen S, a single by Colton B, a single by Carter, a single by Seth T, a walk by Jack K, and a sacrifice fly by S in the first inning.

Despite the loss, OTC 15U Black did collect 7 hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately, PRBA Blue had 13 hits on the way to victory.

Kaleb Hammes led things off on the mound for OTC 15U Black as he allowed 7 runs on 3 hits. Olin Link, Ryan Despard, Rowan Finseth, and Quenton Beske each entered the game as relief, throwing 2 innings, 2 innings, 1 inning and 1 inning respectively.

OTC 15U Black totaled seven hits in the game. Despard and Ayden Olson all managed multiple hits for OTC 15U Black. Despard went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead OTC 15U Black in hits.

“We gave up far too many free bases tonight on the mound.  I’m proud of the way we battled back after a quick 10-0 deficit,” said coach Evan Meece. “We didn’t just shut down, but stayed in it.  We need to not give the free bases and be more aggressive on the mound in the state tournament this weekend.”

OTC will host the Midwest Plains Regional Tournament at Tony Kawlewski Field in Henning July 27-31. This tournament will feature teams from North Dakota, South Dakota, Colorado, Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, and Minnesota.
