Fire destroys shop near Vining

Sheriff deputies, on July 1, arrested a 63-year-old woman in rural Underwood on a felony-level controlled substance warrant and for assaults on two sheriff deputies.

The woman was booked into custody at the Otter Tail County jail in Fergus Falls. Prior to that she was treated at the Fergus Falls hospital for an injury sustained during the altercation with deputies in rural Underwood.

Both deputies were also treated for minor injuries at the hospital and returned to full duty.

Thefts reported near Vergas

A Stihl weed wacker and electronic tire air pump were taken from a camper near Sybil Lake Trail, southeast of Vergas. The owner said the thefts likely took place in recent weeks when the owner was away from the camper.

Access was gained through a broken window. The owner believes the thefts may be linked to recent theft arrests in the area near Vergas.

Fire destroys shop

Several items in a 40-by-100-foot shed were destroyed by fire on June 30 east of Clitherall and northwest of Vining.

Sheriff deputies said the items that were destroyed in the blaze included three tractors, a skid loader, swather, square baler, welding equipment and assorted shop tools. 

Two injured in two-vehicle crash

Sheriff deputies, on July 2, reported two minor injuries in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Highways 27 and 22, northeast of Elizabeth and near Long Lake. The accident took place at 1:31 p.m.

There was poor visibility at the time of the crash due to heavy rainfall.
