0Join the Otter Tail County Historical Society for a tour of historic downtown Henning on Thursday, July 6 at 7 p.m.
As rural communities throughout Minnesota struggle to survive, Henning has taken a path that could become a model for others. Community members have come together to save several historic buildings. In recent years both the Trinity Lutheran Church and the Lewis House have been listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This year is especially momentous as Trinity commemorates its 125th anniversary.
The tour involves more than admiring historic architecture. We will talk about the people and events that form the historical fabric of the community. Who remembers Ralph “the candle lighter” Webster or the Henning Advocate editor who got thrown into the Fergus Falls State Hospital for getting too close to the truth. There are also stories about UFO’s and the Giant Norsemen.
Intrigued? Discover Henning history on July 6, at 7 p.m. The cost for the tour is $8. We will begin at Trinity and end at Trinity for refreshments.
