The Otter Tail Cnetral boys team placed first place and the girls team took second place at the section golf meet in Perham last week. Boys team members include: Carter Dilly, Logan Kostelecky, Nathan Hillman, Owen Buehler, Christian Carlson. Girls team members include: Sophie Hillman, Bidgette Hillman, Janie Lhotak, Addison Maethner and Tiffany Weber.

The Otter Tail Central golf teams had a very successful Section 6A tournament last week at Perham Lakeside.

Both teams competed in the two day event on May 31 and June 1. The boys team came away as Section 6A champions and will represent Section 6A at the Class A state golf tournament in Becker from June 13-14. This is the fourth time OTC has represented Section 6A at the boys state tournament as a team. Carter Dilly was the individual medalist with a two-day total of 158 (79-79) and Logan Kostelecky finished second individually with a 2-day total of 159 (81-78).

The girls team finished in second place after a solid tournament and freshman Sophie Hillman qualified for the Class A state golf tournament as an individual for the second straight season as she finished in second place with a two-day total of 182 (92-90).

The boys team was trailing Park Christian by 4-strokes after Day 1 and it was an absolute see-saw battle throughout Day 2. The match came down to the final group as the teams were tied and Dilly in front of all his teammates and a big crowd came up with a huge par to put the pressure on the Park Christian golfer who had to take a chance and he ended up with a double-bogey to give OTC a 2-stroke victory to punch their ticket to state.

While Dilly got to finish it off, all members of the team did their part and as OTC uses four scores and for it to come down to just 2 strokes over two days shows how important each and every shot is. All members of the team compete both as the team and as individuals at the state tournament.

The girls team knew Park Christian was a really tough team, but they did a good job of battling and finished as runner-ups.

The State Class A Tournament for both boys and girls is held in Becker at Pebble Creek Golf Course.

Hillman and the girls will compete in the morning both days, while the boys will tee off in the afternoon both days. OTC will head down for the practice round on Monday, June 12 and then attend the state tournament banquet that night, before competing in the two-day tournament from June 13-14.
