OTC to host home meet at Thumper Pond in Ottertail

The Otter Tail Central boys and girls varsity golf teams have been busy the past couple of weeks getting some events in after a late start due to the weather.  

Before getting into those results, head coach Mike Hepola siad he wanted to set the tone with a few points of information. The team has been golfing with just five boys and five girls at the varsity level (teams can play six) so far as the team has allowed a couple younger golfers the opportunity to develop at the JV level. 

In the conference there are many teams that struggle to fill a girls team so instead of the normal Top 4 scores for a team score the girls team scores are calculated with the Top 3 scores.  

The girls team has been made up of freshman twins, Sophie and Bridgette Hillman, Sophomores Tiffany Weber and Janie Lhotak and Junior Addison Maethner.  

The boys team is made up of seniors Carter Dilly (missed first few meets with injury), Nathan Hillman and Owen Buehler and sophomores Logan Kostelecky and Christian Carlson. 

Hepola said this is a great group of young ladies and young men who have done a great job of representing the schools and communities. He is looking forward to the rest of the regular season along with hopefully making a nice run in the postseason tournaments.  

The Bulldogs have two remaining regular season meets scheduled, Tuesday May 16 at Tipsinah and then OTC’s home meet on Thursday, May 18 at Thumper Pond.  

The conference Meet is Monday May 22nd at Tipsinah, while the two-day section meet is scheduled for May 31-June 1 in Perham.
