OTC drops a pair to BHV

The Otter Tail Central Bulldogs dropped a doubleheader to Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale on Thursday night.
In the first game of the night, Sophie Akerman hit an RBI single in the first inning to put OTC up 1-0, before eventually falling by a score of 12-3. The Raiders tied the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the second inning and added a pair of runs in the third and fourth innings and 7 runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to come away with a 12-3 win.
Liz Lukken led the way offensively with a hit and pair of RBIs, while Akerman had 1 hit and 1 RBI and Delia Grabe picked up another hit to lead the way offensively.
Akerman took the loss on the mound after pitching 4 2/3 innings, while giving up 11 hits, 9 earned runs, striking out 1 hitter and walking 6.
In the second game of the night, the Bulldogs played three solid innings, but the Raiders’ bats were too much for OTC to handle down the stretch as they fell by a score of 12-4. OTC collected 9 hits in the game and were led by Brooklyn Christianson who collected a pair of hits and 2 walks.
OTC got the scoring going with a run in the bottom of the first inning to take a 1-0 lead. The Raiders tied the game up at 1-1 in the top of the second inning, before adding 7 runs in the fourth inning and 4 more runs in the fifth inning to take a 12-1 lead.
OTC added 3 runs in the bottom of the fifth inning, but fell by a score of 12-4.
Akerman started the game for the Bulldogs and gave up 4 hits, 3 earned runs and struck out 1 hitter in 1 inning of action. Cameron took the loss on the mound as she pitched 4 innings and gave up 5 hits and 7 earned runs, while striking out a pair of hitters and walking 9.
OTC will host Rothsay on Monday, before heading to Pillager for a doubleheader on Tuesday. The Bulldogs will wrap up their regular season on Thursday when they host New York Mills.
