The weather may still be a bit cool, but the Henning community is gearing up for the first-ever community Spring Fling on Saturday. The event will also allow the community a chance to congratulate George McCollough well as he retires from more than 50 years of operating McCollough Welding in Henning.

As part of the event, a meal will be served from 5-8 p.m. and take outs will be available. The meal will consist of a ribs and chicken buffet with roasted red peppers, coleslaw and dinner roll. The meal will be $15 in advance and $20 at the door.

Spring Fling will also include a disc golf tournament beginning at 3 p.m. and bean bag tournament, which will also kick off at 3 p.m. There will also be a split the pot bucket raffle, door prizes, games, bonfire and more at the fairgrounds.

The event is sponsored by the Henning Chamber of Commerce, Henning Lions Club, Henning Fire Department, Henning HOPE, Henning CHAT and the Henning Rod and Gun Club.
