Hope Williams is aiming to put her expertise and experience in economic and housing development to good use in Wadena County. The 2018 graduate of Henning High School was recently hired as the new executive director of the Economic Alliance in Wadena County.

Williams, who is the daughter of Thomas and Tammy Williams of rural Henning, started her new position on March 27. After working on both economic and housing development issues for the City of Perham, Williams came across the Sebeka-based position and threw her name into the hat.

“When I saw this position open up I thought I would give it a chance,” said Williams. “It looks like something I would be interested in.”

In her new role, Williams will work with Wadena County and the cities that encompass that area. She will also have a one-on-one relationship with local businesses by providing educational and networking opportunities, as well as be an advocate for their continued growth. Her goal is to be a resource for local businesses and organizations for everything from seeking funding to developing business and marketing plans.

For example, Williams said some businesses may not even know what resources are already available to them and what could be available to them in the future. In order to spread the word about the organization, which was formed in 2011, Williams is hoping to be involved in the Wadena County area and develop relationships with the community.

“Getting involved in the communities and getting involved with the businesses,” she said. “Having a one-on-one relationship with businesses and helping them in ways in which they may not even know they needed help.”

The Economic Alliance is located in Sebeka and businesses in the Wadena County area can contact Williams for more information about the organization by calling (218) 837-5950 or emailing wceda@wcta.net.
