Kale Misegades, who is the son of Randy and Becky Misegades of rural Henning, will be making his second straight trip to the national hoop shoot contest after recently taking first place in the regional hoop shoot contest in Iowa. The 10-year-old finished in third place last year at the national hoop shoot in Chicago, Ill. in the 8-9-year-old age group.
On the one year anniversary since the passing of Henning High School student Jacob Quam, a group of approximately 30 people gathered for an early morning game of basketball on Friday at Henning School. The basketball game was just one of several activities at the school on Friday as students, staff and the community remembered the life of Quam.
The City of Ottertail will be seeing a new specialty business opening in the near future. At April’s regularly scheduled meeting, the council approved an Interim Use Permit (IUP) for Big Cat Disc Golf LLC, being opened by Brett Burch.

Bob Teows, the new speech therapist at the Henning Nursing Home, will provide speech therapy services at the nursing home on weekday afternoons.
Glen Thomas was presented with a special plaque as he retired from the Vining Fire Department. Thomas was honored as a 33-year charter member of the Vining group.
Placing at the Section 6A speech contest were Henning students: Mandi Magnuson, Heidi Meyer, Leah Polzine, Ross Brandborg, Amy DeBauche and Tanja Hock. Brandborg will advance to state in the discussion category, while DeBauche and Hock are first alternates in their categories.
At their regular meeting, members of the Henning Board of Education put about $80,000 worth of programs and positions on the budget chopping block, with several others left to another special meeting set for next week.

The Vining school district has voted to consolidate with the Henning school effective July 1, 1968. Present plans are to use the Vining building. Two classrooms would be used and two teachers who are presently teaching in Vining would continue to teach there. All third graders and about 12 fourth graders would attend school in Vining.
Roger Rehborg informed the Advocate today that he will open the Sinclair service station and café on Hwy 210. Opening date has been set for about May 1.
Peter Aune of Vining has returned home after spending three weeks in the Wesley and Lake Region hospitals. It marked the first time in 90 years that Peter has been to the Hospital.

The new Carter block on the corner of Second Street and Douglas Avenue in Henning was built by Charles Benson in 1917 at a cost of $15,000. It was hardly completed before it was sold to J.H. Carter. It is occupied by a half a dozen business places.
The second day’s drive in the Liberty Loan campaign brought Henning almost up
to its quota of $17,500. This is gathered from what is in sight, and the village will easily raise its allotment in a few days and more.
Both houses of Congress have passed the measure requiring men who have reached the age of 21 since June to register for service. As soon as the measure is signed by the president, it becomes operative. It is estimated that this will add nearly 1,000,000 men who will be subject to immediate call.

L.L. Riley broke ground for his new drug store on Monday. The building will be 22×50 feet.
M. Larson has purchased a half interest of J.S. Edwards in the Perfect Rest Bed Spring factory, and the new firm is known as the Perfect Rest Bed Spring Company.
Senator Hompe is home and feels that the passage of the state elevator bill will help the wheat market next fall if the farmers look out that the warehouse is not manipulated against them.
The roads are all right these days when you get down to them, but here the bottom seems to have dropped out.
The Union Sunday school contemplates purchasing an organ, which will add much to the interest of the school.
