A new easel has been created to display some of the donations and work donated to Henning School from local businesses and organizations.

The generosity of area businesses and citizens has impacted the Henning School classrooms in a big way. In order to showcase the businesses and the citizens, a brainstorming session of the Adopt a Classroom duo of Mrs. Quammen and Mrs. Wiese was held. Together they came up with the idea to create an easel display that could be put out at local events and in the lobby of the gymnasium throughout the school year revealing what the funds from the Adopt A Classroom program were used on.

Mrs. Quammen and Mrs. Wiese met with Andrew Tischer of Hilltop Lumber in Ottertail, Minnesota. They took along renderings of table top displays and free standing easels.  Tischer agreed to partner with the Adopt A Classroom program by donating all the supplies needed to make 8 freestanding and 8 table top displays. Not only would Hilltop Lumber donate the supplies but they would deliver them to Mr. Eli Hill’s shop room.

In this creative shop space, the Woods and Engineering/Problem Solving Classes went to work on building these easels. Each easel is inscribed on the display ledge the words “ donated by Hilltop Lumber and the EPS/Woods class of 2022.

These easels will be used to display images of what the Adopt A Classroom sponsor’s money has purchased to help Henning school. Each easel will display the sponsor’s logo. They will be on display in the lobby of the Henning School throughout the year. They will also be on display at the Henning Festival and the Henning World Famous Turkey BBQ events.

Kaislyn Bunkowski, a National Honor Society member and a senior at Henning Public School, will use these easels to display her National Honor Society service project for 2023. Kaislyn will be photographing all the outstanding items purchased through the Adopt A Classroom funds. She will then be displaying these photographs along with the sponsors names on tag boards that will be held up by the easels.

Mrs. Quammen and Mrs. Wiese also hope that these easels will be used to display the gorgeous artwork that is created in Mrs. Babolian’s art classes at different music events throughout the year. Mrs. Babolian has students from kindergarten through 12th grade. She works with many different mediums and this will be a great opportunity to showcase the hard work that happens in the art department.

The Adopt A Classroom program is very thankful for every donor who has given both this year as well as in the past. With the fantastic donation of lumber and supplies for the easels, Hilltop Lumber has made the job of showcasing the items purchased with Adopt A Classroom funds easier. Mrs. Quammen and Mrs. Wiese are looking forward to many years of partnership with Adopt A Classroom and its sponsors.
