The Henning EDA approved a slight increase in rent at Countryview Apartments beginning as soon as April.

During its regularly scheduled meeting on Friday morning, which was delayed a day due to technical issues with Zoom, the Henning EDA approved increasing rent by $50 per month for single and two bedroom apartments. The rent for one bedroom apartments will be $615 a month and rent for two bedroom apartments will be $725 a month.

Rent has not been increased at the city-owned apartment building in approximately two years and became necessary to keep up with increases in things like utilities and maintenance.

After speaking with Utility Supervisor Ted Strand, Henning Mayor Robert Johnson said the utilities at the facility have went up approximately $20 per month alone. The additional increase will help to cover some of the maintenance at the building.

The rent will be increased when new people move into the building, or when leases come due.
