Henning defeats Underwood in sub section opener

The Henning Hornets improved to 27-1 and advanced to Wednesday’s sub section championship game after defeating Underwood last Thursday and Hillcrest Lutheran Academy on Monday night. 

The Hornets defeated Underwood by a score of 82-61 in Thursday’s opener, before edging the Comets on Monday night. 

Wednesday’s sub section championship game will be held at 7 p.m. in Fergus Falls and the Section 6A championship game will be played on Friday night at 7 p.m. in Fergus Falls. 

Thursday

The eighth seeded Underwood Rockets pushed the top seeded Hornets in an up-tempo game until midway through the second half, before Henning pulled away late in the game for an 82-61 win on Thursday.

“March is different, and tonight was definitely a playoff atmosphere. Underwood was very well prepared and played a tremendous game,” said head coach Randy Misegades.

The Hornets led by a score of 47-35 at halftime, before pulling away late in the second half. Henning shot 50 percent from the field and went 9-22 from behind the 3-point line. 

Henning was led by the trio of Tyson Misegades, Mason Hammer and Kale Misegades who each scored over 20 points. Tyson Misegades scored 24 points and went 5-7 from behind the 3-point line, while Mason Hammer added 24 points of his own in the win.

Kale Misegades went 7-10 from the floor to finish with 21 points and added a team-high 8 assists. Lane Dilly chipped in with 7 points and remained busy on the boards throughout the night as he finished with a team-high 12 rebounds.
