The Henning junior high speech team competed at a meet in Fergus Falls on Saturday, Feb. 21. 

Breanna Bunkowski placed third in Humorous Interpretation with her script from the movie “10 Things I Hate About You”

Emma Fosse placed third in Poetry Interpretation with her program of various poems about mental illness and healing.

Brenden Weller placed third in Informative Speaking with his speech about the NFL and earned Superior in Extemporaneous Reading with various short stories from the collection “There is No Long Distance Now,” by Naomi Shihab Nye.

Maiya Kodadeck placed fourth in Creative Expression with the short story she wrote called “Moderation Council.”

Jazmine Saari earned Superior in Discussion (this year’s discussion tasks are about the environment.)

Gretchen Mimbach earned Superior in Prose Interpretation with the short story “This is My Audition Monologue” by Sara Zarr.

The Henning School varsity speech team competed in a meet at Battle Lake on Saturday, March 4. 

Monica Hansen broke to the final rounds of two categories, placing second in Dramatic Interpretation with her script from the play “The Gun Show” by E.M. Lewis and third in Prose Interpretation with her script from the novel “Faceless” by Alyssa Sheinmel.

Isabelle Godding broke into the final round of Extemporaneous Reading and placed third. 

Emma Fosse broke into the final round of Poetry Interpretation and placed fouth.

Maiya Kodadeck broke into the final round of Creative Expression and placed fifth.

Destinie Sweeno earned Excellence in Poetry Interpretation. 

Gretchen Mimbach earned Excellence in Prose Interpretation.

Brenden Weller earned Excellence in Informative Speaking.

Breanna Bunkowski earned Excellence in Humorous Interpretation.

The Henning speech team only has three more varsity meets before the sub section meet on March 31 to determine who advances to the section meet on April 15.
