Members of the Henning boys basketball team celebrated an undefeated Park Region Conference season after their win against Bertha-Hewitt last week. The Hornets finished their conference schedule with a record of 14-0.

The fourth ranked Henning Hornets wrapped up a perfect conference season with a 76-34 win over Bertha-Hewitt on Tuesday night. The win ends Henning’s Park Region Conference schedule with a perfect 14-0 record.

Overall, the fourth ranked Hornets are 23-1 on the season and will wrap up their regular season with a pair of non-conference games this week.

The sub section playoffs kicks off on Monday night with the pigtail games, before the first round of the playoffs begin on Thursday.

Mason Hammer, Kale Misegades and Tyson Misegades combined to score 60 of Henning’s 76 total points as the Hornets wrapped up a perfect Park Region Conference season on Tuesday night.

After taking a 44-21 lead at halftime, the Hornets continued to outpace the Bertha-Hewitt Bears in the second half to come away with a 76-34 win. Despite the win, head coach Randy Misegades said the Hornets need to do a better job of bringing some extra energy to the game from the opening tip.

“There wasn’t a lot of energy or atmosphere in the BH gymnasium tonight. And our players and coaches didn’t do a great job of bringing our own energy to the game early on. We were quiet, slow, and not engaged to begin the game,” said Misegades. “We made a nice push to open up a good margin at the end of the half and then extended the lead throughout the second half.”

Hammer led the way offensively with a double-double by scoring 21 points and pulling down 16 rebounds. Kale Misegades chipped in with 20 points and 5 assists, while Tyson Misegades finished with 19 points and 4 assists.

Lane Dilly just missed out in recording a double-double as he scored 9 points to go along with 10 rebounds.

Misegades said the team is proud of their accomplishments so far this season, but will need to make some additional adjustments as they prepare for the playoffs.

“We finished the Park Region Conference with a 14-0 record and we’re proud to reach one of our team goals. We have a lot of improving to do if we want to continue our journey,” said Misegades.

“Nice defensive effort from our guys tonight at Underwood. We dominated the glass, not allowing a single offensive rebound for Underwood. We were also able to create 20 turnovers, which led to some easy buckets in transition,” said head coach Randy Misegades.

As a team the Hornets shot 46 percent from the field and were just 9-26 from behind the 3-point line.

Mason Hammer finished with his second straight double-double with 28 points on just 11-19 shooting and 10 rebounds.
