A 55-year-old man was rescued from home by a neighbor

Sheriff deputies, on Feb. 12, reported that fire destroyed a garage and severely damaged a home at Wall Lake between Fergus Falls and Underwood.

The fire was called in at 10:10 a.m. When firefighters arrived the garage was fully engulfed in flames and the house had flames in the living room. A 55-year-old disabled man was rescued from the home by a neighbor.

On the scene were firefighters from Fergus Falls, Underwood and Dalton. There was additional damage to two vehicles that were parked nearby. The Red Cross provided emergency assistance to the resident, identified as Steven Kuntze.

Sheriff deputies were assisted in the investigation of the fire by the Minnesota State Fire Marshal. No suspicious circumstances were apparent.
