Lyvia Misegades recorded a pair of double-doubles last week as she helped the fourth ranked Henning Hornets improve to 23-1 on the season. They have won 23 straight games after losing their regular season opener to Perham.

Congratulations to the varsity girls basketball team as they finished the Park Region Conference season with a perfect 14-0 record to become Park Region Conference champions.

This past week the Hornets had their last two conference games as they hosted Verndale on Tuesday night for parents night and then traveled to Bertha-Hewitt on Friday to take on the Bears.

“Recaps of both games are below, but I want to take this time to once again thank all the parents for all the sacrifices they make not only during the season but in the off-season to help their daughters and allow them to be a part of the Henning Hornet basketball family,” said head coach Mike Hepola. “Thank you all so much for allowing me to be a small part of your daughter’s life.”

This upcoming week is the final week of the regular season and the Hornets play two section opponents as they host a really good Underwood team on Tuesday night, before traveling to Parkers Prairie on Thursday night for their final regular season game.

On Friday the Hornets traveled to Bertha to take on the Bears in Henning’s final conference game.  The girls came out with a good first half as the Hornets held a nice 41-15 lead going into the break.  The second half Henning tried a couple of different things and just didn’t get things rolling on either end of the court, but were still able to win by the final score of 67-46 to wrap-up the conference season 14-0.

Individually Henning was led by Lyvia Misegades with another double-double with team highs in points 26 and rebounds 10.  Faith Fisher returned from her illness and finished in double figures with 13 points, while Ally Hart joined Fisher and Misegades in double figure scoring with 12 points.
