The varsity girls basketball team had a couple conference games this past week as they hosted Bertha-Hewitt on Tuesday and then traveled to Menahga on Friday night in a matchup of the top two teams in the conference.  

Lyvia Misegades recorded a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds during Tuesday’s 65-43 win over Bertha-Hewitt.

The Hornets did a great job winning both bringing their overall record up to 14-1 and conference record to 8-0.  This coming week the Hornets travel to Ulen on Monday night for a section match up with Norman County East/Ulen-Hitterdal and then host Pillager in a conference game on Thursday night in Henning.

Jan. 17 Bertha-Hewitt 

65-43 win

The girls got off to a great start on Tuesday night as they held a 45-12 halftime lead. Seniors Ally Hart (17) and Faith Fisher (11) both finished the half in double figures with Lyvia Misegades just behind with 9 and Natalie Eckhoff with 6 in the half. Head coach Mike Hepola said the girls did a great job both offensively and defensively holding them to 12 points.  

The second half was a little different story as the Hornets played some different combinations of players, but ultimately still won by the final score of 65-43. 

Ally Hart scored a team high 22 points during Tuesday’s Park Region Conference win over Bertha-Hewitt in Henning.

Individually, four Hornets finished in double digit scoring. Henning was led by Hart with 22, Fisher 15, Misegades 14 and Natalie Eckhoff 10. Lily Fraki and Gretchen Eckhoff rounded out the scoring with 2 points each. 

Both Misegades and Fisher had double-doubles as Misegades led the team with 11 rebounds and Fisher led with 10 steals. Fisher just missed out on a rare triple-double finishing with a team high 8 assists.

Jan. 20 at Menahga 

57-37 win

On Friday night the Hornets traveled to Menahga to take on a good Braves team. Once again the girls did a great job of getting off to a good start as Henning held a 36-19 halftime lead. The Hornets’ defense has been a focus and the girls did a great job as Henning held them to 37 points. Henning ended up winning the game by the final score of 57-37.  

Offensively the Hornets were led by Faith Fisher with 20 points and Lyvia Misegades with 19 points. 

Ally Hart scored 7 points, Becca Frederick 6 points, Lily Fraki 3 points and Natalie Eckhoff 2 points rounded out the scoring.  

Misegades had another double-double finishing with a game high 14 rebounds. Frederick did a great job rebounding from her guard position also finishing in double figures with 10 rebounds, while Fraki grabbed an impressive 8 boards as well. 

Fisher had 5 assists to lead the team.
