A new cell tower has been erected in rural Deer Creek. The new cell tower, which is located near 530th Ave. and 313th St. in rural Deer Creek was one of several cell towers that were constructed in the area in 2017.
Judah Burlingame was appointed by the Ottertail City Council to fill the vacant city council seat that was vacated by Heather Rosenthal.
Tyler Schwartz was hired as a full-time police officer with the City of Henning. His grandparents lived in Henning when he was a child and he remembers stopping by places like Denny’s Food N Sport when he was younger to get treats when he would come to visit.
Paige Wallevand was one of two freshmen who were named to the NJCAA all-american first team for volleyball in 2017. The Henning High School alum plays volleyball for Central Lakes College in Brainerd and finished with 506 set assists, 277 kills, 52 ace serves, 217 digs and 57 blocks for the Raiders.

Dr. Jon Wigert, of the Henning Medical Center, has announce that he is expanding his practice with the addition of a new full-time employee.
As of January 14, family nurse practitioner Mary Aguilar, R.N., who worked with Wigert at the Sebeka Medical Clinic for the past two years, will begin her duties at the Henning clinic under his supervision.
Jon Stueve, of Henning, rolled a 606 series to win the annual holiday bowling tournament held at Henning Lanes last Monday and Tuesday. Runner-up was Jim Waskosky with a 590. Winners of a drawing for bowling balls were JoAnn Jensen and Bob Hermanson.
Henning firemen respond to a call early Saturday afternoon, when trucks were dispatched to the Richard Anderson home in Elmo Township.

A fire of undetermined origin destroyed the barn, seven head of livestock and several hundred bales of hay at the Ted Mack farm on Wednesday morning.
The men’s match bowling tournament was held at Henning Lanes Thursday and Friday with 64 bowlers participating.
Wednesday, Kathy and Aric Watnaas visited the Ron Lindberg family in Fergus Falls.
They also visited with Linda O’Neill of Starbuck and Michael Halvorson went back home with her after a week at the Watnaas home.
