The seventh ranked Henning Hornets improved to 4-0 with a pair of home wins last week.

Henning defeated Menahga on Tuesday by a score of 64-40, before defeating Rothsay by a score of 95-34 on Friday.

This week the Hornets traveled to Pillager on Tuesday night, before hosting Sebeka on Friday night. 

Thursday

Henning picked up its first conference win of the season on Thursday night as they secured a 64-40 win over Menahga.

The Hornets were up by 50-15 at one point in the second half, before the Braves went on a late run to cut into Henning’s overwhelming lead. While he was happy with the result, head coach Randy Misegades said the Hornets will need to continue to work on their intensity from start to finish. 

“Nice to get the first conference win under our belt. We got sloppy at times and turned the ball over far too much,” said head coach Randy Misegades. “We’ve got to find more consistency on both ends of the floor. We have yet to play a complete game.”

As a team the Hornets shot 42 percent from the field and had assists on 15 of the team’s 21 made shots from the field.

Mason Hammer led the charge offensively as he scored 27 points off of just 9-17 shooting. He hit six 3-pointers in the game and pulled down a team-high 8 rebounds.

Kale Misegades scored 13 points and Tyson Misegades scored 11 to also reach double-figures. Kale Misegades also finished with 6 assists and 7 rebounds. 

Lane Dilly scored 6 points, Carter Dilly scored 5 points and Noah Umland rounded out the scoring with 2 points.

Friday

Eight Hornets reached the scoring column and six team members reached double-figures as Henning cruised to a 98-34 win over Rothsay on Friday night. The game was the second straight for the Hornets as they kept an up tempo offensive approach in the first half as they took a 65-20 lead at the half.

In the game, the Hornets shot 51 percent from the field and hit 14 3-pointers.

“We showed an improved level of intensity early in the game which led to a lot of positive things for our guys. We did a really nice job sharing the ball and shot the ball exceptionally well for a stretch in the first half,” said head coach Randy Misegades. “Getting six guys into double figures was good to see. We also rebounded at a high level, led by Lane Dilly on the glass.”

Dilly finished with double-double with 10 points and an astounding 17 rebounds, while Kale Misegades led all scorers with 22 points off of just 8-13 shooting. He also led the team with 6 assists and had a team-high 3 steals. He also hit six 3-pointers after going 6-9 from behind the 3-point line. 

Tyson Misegades finished with 20 points, off of 8-13 shooting, while Mason Hammer went 7-14 from the field to finish with 17 points. Carter Dilly and Noah Umland both reached double-figures with 11 points, Dawson Misegades finished with 6 points and Riley Bode rounded out the scoring with 1 point.
