As a community service project, American Heritage Girls will be collecting broken, unwanted, or used Christmas lights from now through Jan. 15 at seven convenient locations.  Anyone with regular string lights or even broken extension cords can drop them off at one of these boxes during the holiday season.  LED lights are not  being collected.

Collection boxes are located at: St Paul’s Lutheran Church Henning, Henning Post Office, Vining Post Office, Henning City Office, Henning Hardware, B&D’s Grocery Henning and the First National Bank in Henning.

American Heritage Girls members will gather the lights and bring them to the Otter Tail County Recycling Center for proper recycling.  It is important to not toss these long strings into routine trash because they clog machinery as the County is disposing of all waste.

For questions about this or other recycling in Otter Tail County, go to the Otter Tail County Recycling webpage at www.ottertailcountymn.us/department/recycling/ or call (218)998-8950.
