Bulldogs to host Hornets Friday in Henning

The Otter Tail Central Bulldogs bounced back from their first loss of the season in a big way last week as they defeated Staples-Motley by a score of 49-6. The Bulldogs led 36-6 at halftime and outgained the Cardinals by a 366-262 margin.

The Bulldogs wasted little time getting on the scoreboard as Owen Buehler caught a 20-yard touchdown pass from Jack Mekalson in the first quarter. Bricker Bladow converted the two-point conversion to make the score 8-0 in favor of OTC.

Later in the quarter, Bladow reached the end zone on an 18-yard run and Buehler kicked the extra point to put the Bulldogs in front 15-0. Mason Dalluge made the score 22-0 when he caught a 55-yard bomb from Mekalson and Buehler converted the extra point.

In the second quarter, the Cardinals scored on a 7-yard run, before Bladow scored on a pair of long runs to make the score 39-6 in prior to halftime. Bladow’s touchdown runs were from 53 and 54 yards out.

Dalluge started the third quarter off with a bang when he returned the opening kick 78-yards for a touchdown. 

Later in the quarter, Bladow scored his fourth touchdown of the game, this time on a 10-yard run, to make the score 49-6 in favor of the Bulldogs.

As a team, the Bulldogs gained 216 yards on the ground and gained 150 yards through the air. OTC ran just 37 plays to pick up 366 yards of offense. 

OTC also forced 3 turnovers in the win.

Mekalson threw for 150 yards with a pair of touchdowns, while Bladow rushed for 168 yards and 4 touchdowns on just 9 carries. Mason Hammer rushed 5 times for 28 yards and Tyler Christensen rushed 6 times for 20 yards.

Dalluge had a big game receiving as he had 3 catches for 113 yards and a touchdown, while Buehler caught 1 pass for 20 yards and a touchdown and Hammer caught 1 pass for 17 yards. 

With the win the Bulldogs improved to 5-1 on the season and will host Frazee on Friday night at 7 p.m. in Henning. 

The Hornets come into the game with a record of 3-3 overall and lost to Thief River Falls 44-13 last week. Frazee has defeated Parkers Prairie by a score of 13-8, Breckenridge 34-12 and Underwood 43-0. In addition to Thief River Falls, the Hornets have lost to Pelican Rapids 42-20 and Crookston 33-14. They currently average 23.2 points per game on offense and give up 26.3 points per game on defense. 

OTC is averaging 33.8 points per game on offense and are giving up 15.3 points per game on defense.
