Homecoming parade to roll through Henning

School spirit will be on full display next week for the annual homecoming celebration at Henning High School. Among the new events will be a parade on Friday afternoon, as well as moving the powder puff football game under the lights at Don Seipkes Field.
The week will get underway on Monday with coronation at 2:30 p.m. at the school. Four candidates will be competing for the title of Henning homecoming king and queen. King candidates include: Keegan Shaw, Riley Bode, Mason Hammer and Carter Dilly; while the queen candidates include: Natalie Eckhoff, Kaislyn Bunkowski, Gabi Umland and Madison Jensen.
The dress up theme on Monday will be Western Day.
On Tuesday the dodge ball tournament will get underway, while the dress up theme will be Jersey Day. The annual powder puff football game, which had been held during the day in previous years, will be held on Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m. at the football field.
On Wednesday the dress up theme will be PJ and toga day, while the activity for the day will be an Iron Man Volleyball game.
The dodge ball tournament concludes on Thursday, while the dress up day will be Adam Sandler day for the high school and color day for the elementary school.
Henning will become different shades of orange, red and black on Friday for school spirit day. A new event this year will be the homecoming parade through downtown Henning. The float building and parade will begin at 1:30 p.m. The parade will begin near the bus garage on Marshall Ave., go along School Ave. until Front St. where it will turn and go past city hall. The parade will then head down Douglas Ave., before turning once again on Marshall Ave. It will end at the bus garage on Lloyd Ave. and Marshall Ave.
Community members are invited to line the street for the homecoming parade, which is a new event aimed at involving the community in the homecoming week celebration.
Homecoming week will come to an end on Friday with the annual football game against Frazee at Don Seipkes Field in Henning, with a dance to follow at the school.
