Wearing their favorite outfit featuring watermelon, Paisley and Ruby Guthrie indulge on a piece of watermelon during the annual Watermelon Day celebration on Saturday. Quinn and Walker Aeling ate pieces of watermelon that were the size of their head during the Watermelon Day celebration in Vining. The Sons of Norway were one of dozens of vendors set up during the Watermelon Day celebration on Saturday. Other highlights from Saturday were horse rides, a petting zoo from the Ottertail Lakers 4-H group and a car show featuring over 40 vehicles at BigFoot Gas, Grocery and Deli. Olivia and Chloe Seaborg take a bite out of a piece of watermelon on Saturday.

The Vining Watermelon Day parade closed out a busy day on Saturday. Among the parade entrants was the Henning Haunted House, Julie and Scott Andreassen who were the grand marshals, antique tractors, the Vining Palace, the Vining Watermelon Day float, the Underwood High School Marching Band and Cabin Source who handed out cups during the parade. Watermelon Day also included the Prairie Fire Children’s Theatre show.
