Lisa Dreyer was the guest reader at the Landmark Center reading night on Wednesday. She read the book When Grandma Gives you a Lemon Tree.

The summer reading series continues on Wednesday at 7 p.m. with guest reader Melissa Sparks, “The Day the Crayons Quit.” 

Join us for this free event with reading, activity, and a treat in the Landmark Patio area. Final reading week will be July 27 with a return of local author Stephanie Jorgenson and another book in her series about “Dally the Distracted Cattle Dog.”

The monthly car show, “Rock Roll & Stroll” is scheduled for this Friday, July 22 from 4-8 p.m. in the Henning downtown area. Come out and stroll downtown Henning businesses and restaurants.

Space is still available for a two day ceramic human figure sculpture workshop by Mary Williams on Aug. 2 and Aug. 30 at the Landmark Station building. 

An $80 registration fee includes all materials, instruction, live model for the first day and kiln firing of your sculpture. No prior clay experience is required, please call 548-5760 to RSVP. Our monthly reading group “Beverage and a Book” will meet on Tuesday, Aug. 2 from 2-4 p.m. to discuss “Lovely Bones.” Copies of this book are available for those wishing to join the discussion. 

The Viking Library Bookmobile visits Henning every other Tuesday, with next visit scheduled for Aug. 2 from 3:30-4:45 p.m. in front of the Landmark Station building. Order books or videos online and have them delivered to Henning.

National Night Out is scheduled for the evening of Aug. 2 at the fairgrounds, featuring activities, food, and fun with your community members and local organizations. Artist Ellen Jean Diederich will offer a two day watercolor painting workshop at the Landmark Center from Aug. 10-11.

The Landmark Center is available for you to use for public or private gatherings, virtual meetings, free WiFi, or overnight retreats for family & friends. We have bed space for up to 10 overnight guests.
